Policy Talks: Making enough housing for everyone
Portland for All
Time & Location
Jun 24, 2024, 5:30 PM – 7:00 PM
Zoom Webinar
About the event
The single biggest reason so many people are houseless in the Portland region is because we don’t have enough housing that people can afford to live in.
In fact, as Portland continues to grow, our housing crisis has become more dire, despite increased investments in affordable housing.
For decades our region has dramatically underproduced housing, fueling this affordability crisis.
As we’ve watched our neighbors be priced out of Portland, it is clear now more than ever that our approach must change.
Hear from our panel of experts about how we arrived at today’s crisis, and what strategies we could pursue to create enough stable and affordable housing for all of us.
RSVP to PolicyTalks: Monday, June 24, 5:30 to 7 p.m. (webinar)
For this month’s PolicyTalks, we’ve brought together:
+ Ernesto Fonesca of Hacienda CDC + Mercedes Elizalde of Latino Network + Michael Anderson of Sightline Institute
To create a city where everyone can thrive, we need housing that meets everyone's needs–affordable, varied, and close to employment, grocery stores, and schools.
While we have made progress, it has fallen short of meeting our region’s needs. Let’s explore why and hear from experts about what can be done to improve our situation.
Panelists will answer your questions throughout the webinar.
